UKSA and lsle of Wight College Partnership Create New Activity Leadership Course
UKSA and the Isle of Wight College have strengthened their partnership with the development of a new course giving 16-18 year olds an exciting opportunity to continue their education at UKSA gaining an NVQ Level 2 in Activity Leadership. Students will spend a large amount of time learning practical and vocational skills on the water alongside the theory of activity leadership. The course includes a range of vocational qualifications in sailing, kayaking and powerboating.
Jon Ely, Chief Executive at UKSA and Debbie Lavin, the Principal of Isle of Wight College announced the new course at the Isle of Wight College open day where UKSA attended to speak about this exciting new course.
Jon Ely commented, “This is a fantastic new opportunity for those looking to work in the maritime or leisure industries. It is a key part of UKSA’s strategy to develop new and exciting educational opportunities for young people on Isle of Wight”.
College Principal, Debbie Lavin said “We have worked with UKSA for a number of years on other courses which have proved to be highly successful and we are delighted to be working with them on this exciting new venture”.
Jeremy Waitt, UKSA’s Education Manager said “The course is very practical and is a chance for young people to access water based qualification at UKSA through the Isle of Wight College framework. Candidates don’t need to have any experience of water based activity but do need to be motivated to get wet, learn and have fun”.
