Based at their headquarters in the heart of Cowes, the cost of the course includes a packed lunch and a choice of exciting watersports activities, including sailing, team building games, team challenges and a whole host of fun, instructor-led activities.

Children will be fully supervised from 8.30am through to 5pm, and anyone aged between eight and sixteen is able to take part. Places on these sought-after courses are limited, so early booking is recommended to ensure children have the opportunity to get out on the water.

New wireless internet boosts speed and coverage at UKSA

The UKSA has a new wireless internet connection around the main site plus new charges for UKSA student internet access which will come into place from the 8th June onwards.

The new wireless connection covers:
  • Lister conference rooms
  • Lister decking
  • The bar
  • The front of the main building including the teachers rooms in accommodation blocks (Britannia, Endeavour, etc)
  • The jetty's ( great news if you use our marina facilities
  • A new boosted Victory accommodation block connection

Changes to the UKSA student internet access:
Apart from the PC's in the cyber cafe which will remain a free connection, all other internet connections will be chargeable including the cyber café wireless. By charging for the service we will be able to offer a much broader wireless coverage and give users a significant boost in connection speeds which prior to this development have been very slow during peak use periods.

Q. What does this mean
A. Anyone in range of UKSA can connect and get an internet connection from UKSA.

Q. Can people connect for free?
A. Apart from using the existing PC's in the Cyber Cafe, No.  All internet connection for students and visitors will be chargeable - both wireless and wired connections.  Including existing Wired and Wireless Victory and Lister accommodation connections.  Every free connection given out will cost UKSA £6 for credit charges - so we want to avoid this where possible.

Q. Is the internet filtered?
A. Yes.  The internet connection is filtered to stop inappropriate use.

Q. What does this Wireless service cost?
The internet connection prices will be -

2 hours - £4.95
12 hours - £6.95
Up to 1 month - £10.00

(As a comparison BT Openzone wireless would cost £29.00 for a month’s use).

If you are only here for a  week, we would recommend the "Up to 1 month" option - for £10 – to cover the week.

Connection time will be available to buy online - once a connection is purchased it can be used on 1 computer wherever a connection exists on site.

UKSA unveils new signage

It has been a while since we unveiled our new branding. Our plan to gradually replace and renew branded items around site is still ongoing but it reached a high point today with the unveiling of a new site sign at our main entrance on Arctic Road earlier today.

If you are coming to UKSA over the next few weeks please look out for it and let us know what you think.  Next on the list is the big logo on the side of our building which is a bit of a landmark on the Medina.  Expect to see some dramatic changes to that late next week together with a re-brand of our Challenge 67 yacht Whirlwind who is due out of refit at the same time. Exciting times...

But for now... here's what to look out for...
